Our vision is that the Centre d’action bénévole de Saint-Hubert becomes the volunteering action hub of Saint-Hubert.

Our organization promotes the following values and integrates them in all its actions: respect, openness, empowerment and mutual assistance.

Founded in 1971 by Michelle Plante, the organization was then called Volunteer Services to the Elderly of Saint-Hubert. Founded to meet the needs of seniors and people with disabilities, the first service was Meals on Wheels.

Subsequently, several other services and activities expanded the range of services which has improved the citizens’ quality of life. The organization obtained its charter in 1977 and in 1986 changed its name to the current one. The CAB (Centre d’action bénévole) has taken up home in different places and it is now well established at 3339, Grande-Allée since 1994. Always on the lookout for social changes, the CAB works closely within community, institutional and political circles

Territory Served

Our territory is the borough of Saint-Hubert in the City of Longueil.

Le Centre d’action bénévole services various types of customers.

At the heart of our concerns, volunteers are the corner stone of our organization. Our activities are mainly carried out by these exceptional people. We also refer to other resources people who want to get involved but cannot find services that meet their interests within our organization. We welcome, filter, orient, train and recognize volunteers.

One of our roles is to support organizations in the territory. Whether it’s for referencing of volunteers, lending premises or equipment, technical or professional support, we endeavour to assist organizations that help those impoverished or most in need.

Seniors have an important place in our services. We try to assist the public services network by providing services that assist and encourage the elderly to maintain their home. Quality of life is important to us and that is why we make sure that seniors who call on us are provided with quality services.

We help families both directly and indirectly. Directly, we support people through referrals to community resources within the territory and other services such as the preparation of tax returns and loan of some orthopedic equipment. Indirectly, we help out by supporting direct assistance organizations for families.

As a community organization well established in its community, we work in collaboration with many other organizations, groups, evaluation round-tables.
